one day two...

i wrote a lot of,..... well...personal stuff

since turning 23 something has changed,
maybe it wasnt the number 23, but just 23 for me
lately i have been pretty reflective
and to say the least introverted(more so than i am normally)
that just doesnt make for very good blog material
because...well its personal

i am trying to find the balance between my soul searching, and this here blog.
so if anyone still reads, just bear with me.
who knew 23 brought all this?

what i know to be true

what i know to be true...
is that the most important relationship you can have
is with yourself..
and i would like to think that i have a very good one with myself
i know that in the end, no matter what  i have, or who i have in my life or not in my life i have to be with myself
so its important to take of myself

if for instance you cant be by yourself in totally silence, still silence, just sit in silence and just be...then i would have to say that your relationship is totally off balance.

the fact that i love myself allows me to take care of those around me, and give to them what i choose to give to them.
its never more than i can handle, or any less.

the real point of this, is me buying flowers for myself the other day
and i thought i would share them with you.
kinda like im bought them for you too.

so enjoy...and treat yourself every once in awhile.

let's wait awhile

.
in honor of janet and her lets wait awhile anthem I wanted to know….

why is that once you become an “adult” you cant wait awhile….when you were younger it was like you had permission or a substantial reason to wait awhile to take things “all the way”
but once you become an “adult”….things go to the we are all grown phase…and basically there is no reason to wait, we already know where this going…
no need for romance??

If we are “adults” then we should want to wait awhile since we already know where this will mostly likely lead.
And we all know that AIDS/HIV is rampant…why continue to have these casual sexually flings??
Part of becoming an adult is maturing and wanting a little more from life
Its about establishing things, planting seeds so that they grow and you are able to see your life become something
And it should be the same way with relationships.

When you are young and naïve you can go into relationships with the mindset that flings are acceptable,
And very likely…because we are young and we know for sure that this isn’t forever.

Am I rambling, or is this making perfect sense?

Im just at the point in my life where flings are the thing of the past…im not taking them into my future
They were fun while they lasted…but that’s just it they never last
And im looking for something that last, something that grows
That in the end makes me a better person, and hopefully I give that same thing to the other person.

And I don’t mind waiting awhile.

“I promise I’ll be worth the wait.”

"Always Be My Baby"

I just had to tell this story because I felt like it…and because I remember it so distinctly.

When I was in the 4th grade at Betty Best Elementary (the best school ever, but a whole separate post)I had a best friend named Courtney, and my first serious crush on pause hold your breath…..Jason King. oohhhhhh

Well being the weird child I was, I didn’t really understand the point of liking guys, but somehow I liked Jason. He was mean as hell to me too, I mean extra mean. One morning when we were coming in school from the bus he was walked behind me with one of his friend’s…and the friend mentions to Jason that I look like Brandy (but mainly because I always had my hair braided), and Jason goes yeah her body does, but her face doesn’t…..talk about hurt feelings..ugh boys.

Courtney at young age was more developed than most…and especially me. So she was like the main crush for most of the dudes in our grade…and I was just more so the awkward sidekick…but I held it down. Haha.

Turns out that Courtney and Jason liked each other, and they eventually “go out”…although at that age you really go out nowhere at all…Jason and I lived in the same apartment building, and Courtney would come home with me after school since her mom was at work late. So I was subjected to seeing my best friend with my crush….but in my true fashion I remained a silent encouraging friend/crusher.

At this time Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby” song was really popular…and also really popular with me because I played the song over and over again. Of course the best friend knew this since she was always at my house. (I promise im getting to the point of this story)….

So Valentine Day rolls around…(my bday on top of it)…and Courtney decides that the cute pink heart shaped papers we were making were going to go to Jason…and she was going to write the lyrics to “Always be My Baby” in the card. So at this point im extremely p-ed off…not only are you dating my crush, but you are gonna use my favorite song to serenade him. Not cool!

So we go to school the next day…and on our way home via the bus Courtney gives Jason the heart she made. And in true guy fashion he makes a joke out of it…I recall him even making a scene about it on the bus. Once we get off the bus they get into this huge fight…Jason even picks up this huge rock as if to throw at Courtney, so then she runs into my house and grabs and knife…and runs after Jason with it….im not sure it what order things stopped, but eventually the fight was over…and so were Jason and Courtney. Secretly I was happy, call what you want.

The school year ended with an almost confession that Jason actually did like me as well…but I moved down the street and went to a totally different school from everyone the next year, and never saw Jason again. But I guess for my childhood mind he will “Always Be My Baby”

Until this day I still search for him via Myspace and Facebook…I would just love to know what his life turned out to be. Maybe I should call Maury and tell him to find him for me…one those look at me now…I AM BLOGGER…haha.

1st First Dates

As of lately Yahoo! main page has been flooded with all these dating tips...but they always seemed to be aimed towards women. From how to know if he is into you, to if he wants to marry you, I rarely ever see any geared to men, (in my mind they need some major help). It seems to me that woman feed into the role of how to catch a man, creating the dynamic of the cat and mouse game. I understand its been that way as long as time...but im not into the games or for that matter the tips.

I ran into this article<<Click Here To Read>>. The main point of the article, which i could have wrote in my sleep, was to give women advice on first dates. Such as deciding if there should be second date and what not. Seems to me if one has to do any thinking outside of "I like him"...you just arent that into him.
The real reason for the mentioning of this article is because i had a first date just last night. I wont share the details, since this is an open book for the world to see...but it got me thinking about first dates...and what makes them special and what makes them horrible. Even down to those awkward moments, and those silent moments where you just pause and look at each other because you have not a thing in the world to say to each other..Personally i just laugh at the moment, not sure if thats good or bad.

and dare i ask for comments??? Tell me your first date stories, anybody, everybody.

He Died.

My paternal grandfather passed away yesterday.
But this comes with mixed emotions.
1) Because as of earlier today, I didn't even know his first name. Which Im sure at one point I was told his name, but it was not stored in my memory. That is how irrelevant he has been in my life.
2) He had 15 kids. My grandmother had 8. He had 15 kids. My grandmother was married to my grandfather until the day she died last summer(it should be mentioned that I am the exact replica of her). Pappa was a rolling stone. Even worst the city they lived in was 7.3 sq. miles. In the Mississippi Delta...Cleveland to be exact. My grandfather even had a child with my grandmother's sister.
3) I only have two memories of him. The first was in the summer when I went to visit my maternal grandmother(she lived in cleveland as well), I was in the car with my Aunt and she says, "hey there is your grandfather, mowing the lawn at the church". So we had to stop, which im sure i didnt want to, I spoke. He seemed to be a jolly fat old man, but still felt no connection. I mean you could have pointed out any man and told me that was my grandfather. I think I was around 7.
The second, had to be one holiday when we were in Cleveland. Probably Christmas 2006. My mom asked if I wanted to go see my grandmother on our way back home. I didnt mind. Although I never liked going there. between you and me. So anyhow when we pull up there is the skinny man somewhere between laying and sitting on the bench by the front door. Anybody could have mistaken him for dead. I think he eyes were rolling in the back of his head, and they were yellow(always a sign of sickness) with a hint of red.He began to move from the bench as we procceded to enter the house, but he went in a direction opposite from us as if he had not even notice anyone was there. I had to be told that was my grandfather. Since he had lost a drastic amount of weight.
Those are my two memories.

And so last summer when my paternal grandmother passed away, I attended the funeral. At this funeral I learned about all the kids outside the marriage, he alcholism, and anything else offered up about him. The gossip at the time was he still messed around, and even had a girlfriend. This man has to be 75 and above. I stared at him the whole time at the repass. I just kept wondering if he cared that my grandmother had died, did he feel sorry for his mistreatment of her, I mean did he even care that he was an absent father/grandfather?

I am at a lost for what I should do. Not sure if I should attend the funeral, my mom keeps asking if I want to go. Idk. Then I will have to see my dad(and thats a whole different post)

I goggled my grandfather's name as Jesse Winters Mississippi>>Found This<<. Yeah, his phone number and address. Made me kinda sad to see his number as if he was a living person. oh yeah and he had prostate cancer of all things. Not sure what his cause of death was.

All I know is that....He Died.

INTP (Introversion, iNtuition, Thinking, Perceiving)

Yesterday I went to Barnes and Nobles for one of my usual weekend trips, and was given this book about what careers fits best based upon your personality type.
Come to find out I am INTP as the title states. According to one of those statics that you arent sure who is polled, INTPers are 1% of the population. Basically nobodys. This acrynom comes from the Myers-Briggs test>>If you want to know more<<. INTP are often misunderstood because their thinking is very complex. At times it can be hard for them to express their thoughts where others can understand. I didnt really even get to the jobs because I was so fascinated with my kind. Apparently INTP's mask their feelings a lot because they like things to be logical. So they will even diss miss their own thoughts/feelings if they have no logical base. They can be seen as cold hearted because of this, but with true understanding of INTP's you will see it is not intentional. We also hold our self and others to very high standards, and tend to look down upon character flaws. But if we focus on the light hearted side of our personality, and leave room from for feelings things should be just fine. With that being said I have decided that I must air my feelings. ooooh even writing that made me automically clam up. But Im gonna try anyway:
  • I Feel...really bad sometimes that I dont talk to my dad. His birthday was on the 16th, and I didnt care to call him. It is unfortunate that we dont have a relationship. I do blame him for my current state with men.
  • I Feel...that I am totally in love with someone at this very moment, but wouldnt dare tell the person. I tend to think its better to give no light to love. I rather not feel tied to someone, it just makes you so vulnerable. And thats scary to me.
  • I Feel....scared to be successful. Because I really do know that I am powerful beyond measure.
  • I Feel....Like I have to act as if i am a hard a**, so people wont really see how I feel. But at times I really dont care about things most people do.
  • I Feel...that crying is the best thing to do, but I wont ever let anyone see me cry.
  • And lastly I feel like im telling all my business, and I must stop now..lol

You just dont know how hard that was.

So try to share a feeling with someone that you wouldnt normally share. Its kinda refreshing.

I Hope He Reads This....

I had to marinate on a particular past situation for a few days...and finally my exact feelings came through a song. As the title states I hope he reads this.

If - Destinys Child

These are the lyrics from the song that basically sum it up....

If I don't pick up the phone
Like I used to (for you)
Don't you take it personal

If I don't do all the things that
I used to do (to you)
I ain't mad at you

If you get to feelin' stressed
Up in your chest
Thinkin' that you about to lose
(Baby, it's true)
And if you losing out on sleep
Home worrying about me
(That's how it be)

If you don't know
Now you know
You're gonna miss my love (my love)
And I ain't stressing 'bout a doggone thing
Cause I was true when I gave you (my love)
My love
